Lent!?!? I'm not a Catholic!

Is Lent a 'Catholic Holiday'?

I have written about it a little on my bible study web site here: Ash Wednesday - Start of Lent

Even if you think it is not for you, a Christian should at least know what it is.

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

What do you all think about Lent? Let me know.

I see no problem with Lent. In fact I have said many times that we protestants could learn some lessons from the Catholics. I have considered learning more about Lent and observing it myself. What is wrong with giving something up or fasting in order to become closer to Christ. I believe that is a teaching in the protestant churches as well.

There are other things we could learn as well. The Catholics are very committed to their church and faith. They also honor their leaders. I don't believe the pastor should be worshipped, but I do believe the position should be honored.

Court and I have a Lenten calendar and devotional this year that we are going to do. We are also offering up a sacrifice to God during this season.

I explained to her that it is giving up a thing that is difficult in order to become closer to God. Also, it is a showing of our love for him.

I gave up coffee completely for Lent. That is a HUGE thing for me. Court knew that and saw that I was taking this seriously.

I think sometimes we think Lent is all about giving up alcohol, or meat, etc. When really it should be about a Sacrifical Withdrawl.

We are observing Lent this year,'s time to get serious with God - and let HIM know that we seriously want to draw closer to Him and see Him move!
